Canopius has four fantastic Underwriting Internship opportunities open to all students, whether you are a school leaver, a current undergradaute, graduate, or a career changer! The key thing is that you are curious about getting into the insurance industry and widening your experience. The Summer Internships will be in one of the following four areas:
Credit & Political Risk
Canopius’ global political risk, trade, and credit underwriting team provides coverage for losses due to government action, political unrest, and economic turmoil. They offer specialised services to secure overseas assets and protect financial payments. Their crisis management products include sabotage, terrorism, and kidnap and ransom, supported by expert risk consultants. They lead and co-lead credit and political risk placements, working closely with Lloyd’s brokers. The trade political risk team focuses on indemnifying financial losses in foreign countries.
Accident & Health
The Accident and Health team provides international insurance solutions for groups and individuals across various trades and occupational classes. They offer coverage for group and individual risks, aviation, sports disability, medical expenses, high-risk personal accidents, ship/yacht crew, key person insurance, occupational accidents, business travel, and credit card insurance. Additionally, they handle reinsurance, including facultative excess of loss and quota share. Their specialists tailor benefits to meet diverse client needs, working closely with Lloyd’s brokers to provide appropriate products.
Marine, Hull, Liability & Cargo
Canopius provides marine liability insurance through Lloyd’s in London and operations in the US, Singapore, and Australia. Their team has in-depth knowledge of vessels, cargo, and ports, supported by a dedicated in-house claims team for seamless support. They pride themselves on high levels of service and technical expertise, offering both standard and tailored insurance solutions.
Portfolio Solutions
Canopius Portfolio Solutions offers follow capacity to multi-class portfolios in the global (re)insurance market, supporting key trading partners with stable capacity and streamlined processing. They provide meaningful capacity across multiple territories and swift underwriting decisions. Their portfolio solutions include various structures such as binders, delegated authority arrangements, e-traded underwriting, line slips, MGAs, preferred panels, quota shares, and market trackers.

Academic experience:
UK GCSE maths and English at grade B/grade 6 (or international equivalent).
Candidates must be authorised to work in the UK (Canopius is unable to offer Visa sponsorship for this position).
Some experience with Microsoft software, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Comfortable working in teams alongside people with a range of skill sets and experience.
A positive attitude and desire to learn, develop and grow as an individual.
