What is the role?
- The two year graduate program will provide the candidate with a thorough knowledge of all of aspects of related activities at the stations.
The program over the two years will cover the following:
- The program will be tailored to the graduate
- The program will include a number of objectives for each placement and the candidate will be expected to prepare presentations demonstrating how these were delivered and the key learning points.
- Travel to other sites will be part of the placements
At the end of the graduate program, the candidate will be expected to undertake a wide range of tasks within their level of competence
The following will be included:
- Provide civil engineering assistance and technical support throughout the business.
- Carry out civil inspections and prepare concise and detailed reports on the findings.
- Review reports prepared by others to ensure that these are precise and concise and meet the expected standard.
- Carry out asset risk assessments based on the results from inspections and incorporate the findings in the asset management systems/plant status review.
- Have the ability to prepare budget estimates for works based on accepted civil engineering guidance
- Prepare technical specifications for inspection and assessment work incorporating relevant codes of practice and guidance standards.
- Carry out project work to investigate or assess specific civil engineering issues as these become apparent from engineering standards or legislation.
- Supervise contractors to ensure the requirements of the specification are met.
- Review or prepare risk assessments and method statements to a standard consistent with the business practice.
- Ability to effectively plan and manage a range of projects to ensure that required timescales are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of engineering governance policies.
- Assist in the production and implementation of civil engineering standards and technical guidance documents.
- Support due diligence activities during the acquisition or divestment of plant.
- Contribute to panels of inquiry.
- Technical support for development projects including design review and input into hazard studies and design stage risk assessments
Who is suitable to apply?
- You are studying a Degree in a relevant subject

- Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with Contractors, senior management and other external stakeholders.
- Desire to learn about the UK power market.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables.
- Advanced MS Office skills with the ability to analyse and manipulate data sets.
- Valid Driving License.
- Right to work in the UK.
